Al Mermini began his law enforcement career in Las Vegas, Nevada with the Nevada State Police (NSP) in 2010. During his five-plus years at NSP, he worked Patrol, Fugitive Apprehension, and primarily as a member of the multi-jurisdictional, Southern Nevada Interdiction Task Force (HIDTA).    

In 2015, Al was hired by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon completion of the LVMPD Academy and Field Training Program, Al was assigned to the LVMPD Southeast Area Command (SEAC). At SEAC, Al worked uniformed patrol until being assigned to the Southeast FLEX team where he and his team investigated street level narcotics cases and fugitive apprehension. During his time on the FLEX team, Al participated in over 200+ search warrants and countless fugitive apprehensions. 

In 2019, Al was reassigned to the LVMPD Major Violator and Narcotics Crimes Bureau as a Detective. Since his assignment, Al has worked as a case agent and undercover detective responsible for hundreds of street and mid-level narcotics investigations. Such investigations include, Confidential Informant (CI) buy programs, Undercover (UC) Buy programs, Buy-Bust operations, Tactical Bust-Out operations, Marijuana Grow House Operations, Narcotic Nightclub, Strip Club, Pool Party operations. 

In 2023, Al was reassigned to the Southern Nevada Interdiction Task Force as an Interdiction Detective. He is currently partnered with K9 Robo his Labrador Retriever Narcotic Detector Dog. Al’s current responsibilities include Airport, Parcel, Bus, and Highway Interdiction in Southern Nevada.

Prior to law enforcement, Al served in the US Army for approximately eight years, during his time in the US Army he deployed numerous times and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Al served honorably and ended his service as a Staff Sergeant. 

Al is a passionate career narcotics detective who cares deeply about sharing information, tactics, and experience with officers and detectives around the world. It is his personal mission to better himself and others around him to the benefit of our community and country.
