April Carrasco is a retired Senior Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, where she worked for over 23 years. April started her career with ATF in New York where she worked illegal firearms trafficking and possession throughout the boroughs of New York. April then moved to Dallas, TX where she was assigned to the ATF led High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Group where she was the case agent on multi-defendant complex gang investigations in the Dallas Metroplex leading to numerous successful prosecutions on both federal and state levels. These cases involve actively conducting undercover and tactical operations, informant utilization and control, writing and executing federal search and arrest warrants and courtroom testimony. April has been the lead undercover on multiple federal conspiracy cases as well as assist in numerous other undercover operations.   

Starting in 2014, April was one of three agents that started the implementation of conducting investigations solely based on NIBIN Leads in the Dallas Field Division, helping to form the successful NIBN/CGIC group and targeting the “trigger pullers”. April conducted numerous NIBIN investigations that utilized investigative techniques such as: victim interviews, witness interviews, inmate, and suspect interviews; writing social media and phone search warrants; analyzing the social media/phone data for evidence of the crimes which includes posts, locational data, texts, pictures, and identifying other defendants; Listening to inmate phone calls, pole cameras, surveillance, and utilizing e-trace information and other Crime Gun Intelligence. NIBIN investigations are complex cases involving multiple events that include, aggravated assaults, aggravated robberies, carjackings, gang shootings, and homicide or attempted homicide. NIBIN investigations also involve coordinating and working with other law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and complete investigation to perfect state or federal charges.

Throughout April’s career she has worked with state and local law enforcement including Gang Units, Narcotics Units, DPS, Deployment and Disruption Teams.

April has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Masters of Science Degree in Forensic Science.
