Ed Prokop retired from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) as a Police Commander, Commanding Officer of Support Services Group (SSG) after 27 years of service. SSG consisted of 3 divisions and nearly 1,100 personnel. In this capacity, Ed oversaw all 911 call centers for the City of Los Angeles managing 10,000 911 calls per day, 5,200 police vehicles and the largest type 1 Jail facility in the country. His Command experience includes: Commander, Commanding Officer of Special Operations Group (SWAT, K-9, Mounted Unit, Dive Unit, Metropolitan Division, Air Support Division, Security Services Division). Commander, Assistant Commanding Officer of Counter Terrorism and Special Operations Bureau. 

As a Captain, Ed was the Commanding Officer of the elite Special Operations Division, Metropolitan, which oversaw all aspects of advanced firearms and tactical training in support of 9 Platoons and over 500 Officers including SWAT, K-9, Dignitary Protection, Surveillance operations, crowd management and control etc. Commanding Officer of Newton Area, which consisted of 300 officers assigned to South Los Angeles covering 9 square miles and 180,000 residents. 

Ed worked as a Lieutenant, Gang Impact Team Officer in Charge Northeast and Rampart Divisions. Lieutenant Watch Commander, Rampart Patrol. Sergeant, 77th Area Gang Enforcement Detail. As an Officer, Ed was assigned to Southeast Area, Pacific Area and Operations-South Bureau Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (CRASH). Ed was a Special Operations Element Member for 7 1/2 years assigned to Metropolitan Division as a K-9 Handler.  

Ed served the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantry Squad Leader from 1988-1996 and participated in Operation Desert Storm. Ed is currently a U.S. Air Force Special Agent with the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) and has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Inherent Resolve to Qatar and Afghanistan. Ed received his Master of Public Administration from California State University, Northridge and a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police and the Naval Postgraduate School, Executive Leaders Program.

For the past two years, Ed was the Division Chief of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Leadership Institute and has previously taught future and existing Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement personnel assigned to the Behavioral Sciences Division.
