Mark Bacon
is a Texas Peace Officer with 18 years of dedicated service to the Dallas Police Department and over 20 years of law enforcement experience. Currently assigned to the Dallas Police Department Narcotics Unit as a supervisor for the Overdose, Diversion, and Intelligence Units, Sergeant Bacon brings a wealth of practical experience and specialized knowledge in narcotics investigations, clandestine lab operations, undercover work, and case management. His diverse assignments have included Southeast Patrol, Operation Disruption, Southeast Crime Response Team, Family Violence Unit, and the Narcotics Division, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement operations and the complexities of criminal investigations.
During his decade of experience as a Detective in the Narcotics Unit, Sergeant Bacon honed his expertise in undercover work, warrant service, surveillance techniques, and interview and interrogation. This experience includes obtaining and executing various types of search warrants, arrest warrants, and other investigative tools related to electronic surveillance and social media investigations. Sergeant Bacon was instrumental in establishing the Overdose Unit within the Narcotics Division and possesses extensive knowledge of Fentanyl and its distribution patterns in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, contributing to significant advancements in overdose investigations.
Sergeant Bacon's expertise extends to the practical aspects of drug production. In controlled laboratory settings with forensic chemists, he has replicated the manufacture of methamphetamine, BHO, GHB, and crack cocaine, providing him with unique insights into clandestine drug manufacturing. Sergeant Bacon holds DEA certifications in Basic Clan Lab, Site Safety, Level A High Hazard Response, and Tactical Response to Clan Labs. He is a recognized expert in drug-related courtroom testimony within the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.
