Forensics Science is the “application of science to solve a legal problem.” Digital science is the new DNA. In the face of technology, the student will learn how to search and find electronically stored information that will provide digital leads in their investigations.

Explore different forensic tools and online digital tools to locate and uncover the digital footprints from various devices, data, and metadata to identify your leads and evidence. 

This webinar will provide a step by step process on the proper methods to using online and forensic toolkits to locate digital footprints as evidence in investigations. This is a hands-on class that the student will get to utilize the digital and online tools learned by doing actual evidence acquisitions to better understand the tools and strengthen case evidence.

Dr. Troy Looney, Akron (Ohio) Police Department (Active)

Troy Looney, PhD. has served 28 years with the Akron (Ohio) Police Department and counting. Troy spent the last 8 years as a Detective assigned to the Midnight DB Crimes against Persons unit. Troy investigates all Major Crimes against Persons for Major Felony Crimes, including: Homicide, Robbery, Burglary, Kidnapping, and Sexual Assaults. During his 20 years in uniform patrol, he answered various calls for service, combined with preliminary investigations. Det. Looney has been assigned to a Task Force for 2 years with multiple Federal Agencies.
