The IP (Internet Protocol Address) is the digital footprint to all devices connected to the Internet. Understanding how to locate and Trace IP addresses is paramount to tracking devices being carried and used by everyone. Especially devices carried and used by criminals.  
 
Since everyone uses devices connected to the Internet, investigators will learn the anatomy of an IP address and how to trace IP addresses associated with these devices. Tracing IP addresses will provide a working knowledge of where these devices have been, and whom they are registered too. 
 
This  webinar will provide a step by step process on the proper methods to using tracing IP addresses to locate digital devices and evidence in investigations. In this class student will use tools and investigative skills to trace IP addresses for case evidence.

Dr. Troy Looney, Akron (Ohio) Police Department (Active)

Troy Looney, PhD. has served 28 years with the Akron (Ohio) Police Department and counting. Troy spent the last 8 years as a Detective assigned to the Midnight DB Crimes against Persons unit. Troy investigates all Major Crimes against Persons for Major Felony Crimes, including: Homicide, Robbery, Burglary, Kidnapping, and Sexual Assaults. During his 20 years in uniform patrol, he answered various calls for service, combined with preliminary investigations. Det. Looney has been assigned to a Task Force for 2 years with multiple Federal Agencies.
