Robert Ochsenhirt began his career in Law Enforcement in 1994 with the Blendon Township (Ohio) Police Department, where he worked as a uniformed patrol officer.

In 1997, Robert was hired by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), where he worked for 25 ½ years before retiring in September of 2022. 

During his time with the LVMPD, Robert worked as a uniformed patrol officer, and was a Field Training Officer. Robert spent 16 years assigned to the Narcotics Section, 13 of those years Robert was a deputized Task Force Officer (TFO) with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). While acting as a TFO, Robert wrote over 400 wire intercepts, and was recognized as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). 

Robert spent the final five years of his career with the LVMPD assigned to the Homicide Section. Robert was involved in over 200 Homicide investigations, serving as the primary investigative team on over 60. Robert retired with a 91.5% clearance rate. 

Robert also was part of an investigative team which one the 2012 National HIDTA Award for Outstanding Investigative Effort. Robert received the 2014 Nevada Narcotics Officer Association (NNOA) award for Outstanding Investigative Effort. Robert was recognized six times by the LVMPD for Meritorious Service.
